About Cork and Bottle Direct
The Cork and Bottle Direct are a boutique online wine business with a passion for premium-quality wine at no nonsense prices. Since the legendary Don Hewitson established the Cork and Bottle Wine Bar in London's Leicester Square back in 1972, they have developed a reputation with outstanding growers around the world who give them access to some of the finest wines available, even some that had previously only found their way to a few lucky locals.
I was contracted by a local digital agency to work on the Cork and Bottle Direct web site with them supplying the project brief and specification and suppyling layered photoshop designs. I coded all aspects of the site from the Asp.Net MVC C# code, the conversion of layered Photoshop images to XHTML/CSS3 through to to designing and building the database using MySql.
The site is powered by an Asp.Net MVC content management system which is an upgraded version to the digital agencies older classic asp content management system which was powered by Microsoft Access, as part of the upgrade the database was moved to mySql but with flexability to host it in Microsoft SQL server if the needs arise. I also upgraded all HTML and moved the structure from a table based layout to a modern container based layout.
